Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy, pursuant to the Electricity Consumption and Renewable Generation Statistics, to detail any action she is taking to encourage renewable energy sources, such as solar, landfill gas, and hydro tidal generation, which currently account for just 8 per cent of the total renewable energy total.

Answer:
My Department is taking action to increase renewable electricity generation capacity through the Renewable Electricity Price Guarantee (REPG).
The Final Scheme Design for the REPG scheme was published by my Department in September 2025. I have also submitted a paper to the Executive to agree the final policy.
Once Executive approval is secured, my department aims to introduce the required primary legislation for the REPG to the Assembly before summer recess 2026. Once the Primary Bill is in place, subordinate legislation will be taken forward to set out the detailed arrangements.
