Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether an assessment of the need and feasibility of a pedestrian crossing at Assumption Grammar School, Ballynahinch, will be carried out.

Answer:
Road safety is a high priority for my Department, and we are committed to working proactively to make our roads safer and to address the needs of all road users. We are acutely aware that children and young people are amongst the most vulnerable groups using our roads, particularly around schools.
I have asked officials to undertake pedestrian crossing assessment, in line with the Department’s policy, to determine the need and priority of any crossing facility at this location.
The existing warning signs and road markings will also be assessed to determine if they are appropriate for the area.
