Question:
To ask the Minister of Health to detail any mandatory training doctors undertaking postgraduate training or professional development must complete.


Answer:
All Health and Social Care (HSC) employees, including resident doctors in postgraduate training, are required to complete the below mandatory training modules:
Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity
Manual Handling
Fire Safety
Information Governance, including GDPR
Cyber Security Awareness
Fraud Awareness
In addition to these HSCwide modules, Trusts have also identified Mandatory Training and Induction modules to meet clinical governance requirements. This list is not exhaustive, and individual Trusts may identify additional requirements. Agreed modules include:
Safe Handover
IRMER (Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations)
Consent
Death Certification
Contacting the Coroner
Safe Insulin Prescribing
Infection Control
Child Protection
Hyponatraemia
Mental Capacity Act Training
Right Patient, Right Blood

Each Royal College or Faculty can also determine additional specialty-specific courses or training requirements, which are incorporated into the relevant GMCapproved curricula.
