Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail the (i) number; and (ii) percentage, of pothole repairs that (a) failed to meet the required standards at first inspection; and (b) required further remedial work, broken down by Section Office, for each of the last five years.
Answer:
Maintenance staff inspect and make-safe defects by working to address the highest priority defects as fast as possible, in accordance with our policy to ensure the safety of the travelling public. Defects are instructed for repair either through our internal or external contractor. On completion of the repair, my officials undertake a percentage check to assess the quality of the pothole repair and confirm works for payment if the repair meets the required threshold. If a repair fails to satisfy the required standards, officials will request that it be rectified and subjected to further inspection. This process will continue until the repair fully complies with all stipulated requirements.
