Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on her Department's work to stop caravans staying permanently in public car parks, including any proposals that exist to update regulations concerning this matter.

Answer:
The Department’s approach is generally to seek removal through co‑operation rather than by legislative means. Achieving such co‑operation may require the involvement of local representatives and, on occasion, the police.
Where agreement cannot be reached, Article 91 of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 (1993 No. 3160 (N.I. 15)) provides that any person who, without reasonable excuse, encamps or maintains an encampment on a road, including with a caravan, is guilty of an offence.
