To ask the Minister of Health to detail the number of patients who have been reimbursed for treatment costs for cataract surgery under the Waiting List Reimbursement Scheme, in each of the last five years.

Answer:

The Waiting List Reimbursement Scheme (WLRS) commenced 2 June 2025. To date my Department has approved fewer than 5 WLRS applications for cataract surgery. We have not yet received any claims for reimbursement of cataract surgery under the Scheme.
