Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail (i) when he was first made aware that there was an issue with nursing provision for special school summer schemes; (ii) when he last made contact with the Minister of Health regarding these issues.

Answer:

Officials indicated a number of weeks ago that challenges around inter alia, on-site nursing provision may have prevented summer schemes from proceeding in 2026.

Lines of communication remain open at all times between myself and the Minister of Health. Following discussions on 27 March, we issued a joint statement confirming a solution to nursing provision which will enable special school summer schemes to proceed safely.
