To ask the Minister of Education to detail any actions being taken to ensure special school summer schemes can go ahead this year.

Answer:

Officials indicated a number of weeks ago that challenges around inter alia, on-site nursing provision may have prevented summer schemes from proceeding in 2026.

Lines of communication remain open at all times between myself and the Minister of Health. Following discussions on 27 March, we issued a joint statement confirming a solution to nursing provision which will enable special school summer schemes to proceed safely.
