Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs for an update on his Department's Peatland Strategy.

Answer:

The Northern Ireland Peatland Strategy was published in September 2025 and has a commitment to publish a Delivery Plan and reporting framework.

The first Delivery Plan, covering the period April 2026 to December 2027 was published on 22 April and sets 14 short-term targets to help deliver peatland conservation, restoration and management during this period.

Subsequent Peatland Delivery Plans will cover a five year time period to align with the NI Climate Action Plan cycle.
