Question:
To ask the Minister of Health for an update on the business case for the provision of a 24/7 thrombectomy service.

Answer:
My officials are working with the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust to agree a business case identifying the resources required to support a 24/7 thrombectomy service and the additional capacity this investment will deliver. The business case will set out a preferred staffing model covering the range of professions required for thrombectomy. These include stroke medics, nurses, interventional and diagnostic radiology staff as well as anaesthetics. It is anticipated that the business case will be finalised by the end of June 2026.
While budgetary pressures have prevented me from allocating the additional funding needed to support a 24/7 service, I am confident on progress on a move to a 24/7 model being made soon.
