Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether the recent pavement repairs on Moira Main Street, outside of the doctor's surgery, meets adequate standards.
Answer:
I can advise that the repairs to the pavement at the location specified are temporary works to make the area safe for pedestrians. Permanent repairs have been instructed to our contractor and will be completed in line with programmed works. As the repairs are temporary, no costs have been incurred. Where actionable defects are instructed for permanent repair either through our internal or external contractors, inspections are undertaken on a percentage of completed road or footway defect repairs. This is done on completion of the permanent repair and before payments are processed. In addition to the contractual checks above, issues will also be recorded at the next routine inspection. If a repair fails to satisfy the required standards, officials will request that it be rectified and subjected to further inspection. This process will continue until the repair fully complies with all stipulated requirements
