Question:
To ask the Minister of Health for an update on whether EURneffy nasal spray, used for the emergency treatment of severe allergic reactions, will be made available in Northern Ireland.

Answer:
EURneffy® is a new needle-free adrenaline nasal spray for people with serious allergies. New medicines are assessed for introduction into the HSC in Northern Ireland under a process which adopts the decisions made by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK, or, in the absence of a published NICE determination other UK Health Technology Appraisal bodies (normally the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) or the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG)).
To date none of the above bodies (NICE, SMC or AWMSG) have assessed and recommended EURneffy®. On that basis, it is my expectation that it would not be prescribed in Primary or Secondary Care in Northern Ireland at this time. However, should NICE, SMC or AWMSG undertake a health technology appraisal of EURneffy®, then EURneffy® may be assessed for potentially being introduced into the HSC in Northern Ireland.
