Question: To ask the Minister of Education whether any assessment has been made of the need for a mental health wellbeing service intervention, in conjunction with the Department of Health, in primary schools.
Answer:
There has not been an assessment of need completed for a mental health wellbeing service for children in primary school. Any future service would be subject to discussion with the Department of Health in the first instance, to establish need, the most appropriate and effective model for primary school age children as part of wider mental health services and therapies, all of which will be in the context of budget availability.
