Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for update on the development of plans to improve safety between Moira and Moira Train Station.
Answer:
This issue is an operational matter for Translink. However, they have advised that progress on the new Park & Ride facility at Moira Rail Halt is at an advanced stage and remains on course to become operational in early summer. Once open, the site will provide over 480 free parking spaces for commuters accessing rail services at Moira. The work includes the construction of a 2.5m wide footway, linking the park and ride site to Moira Railway Station. This additional footway width is to provide extra capacity for pedestrians at peak times. Street lighting along this link will be upgraded to current standards. My department is also considering potential improvements to pedestrian and cycling infrastructure between Moira and the train station. Design development is at an early stage and engagement with stakeholders and the public will commence once plans are suitably developed.
