Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for an update on the provision of a new 500-pupil special school, including a precise location, as referred to in the Assembly Chamber on 28 April 2026 during questions on the NSMC Education Sectoral Meeting.

Answer:

My department, working with the Education Authority, is currently exploring a number of potential sites in the South Belfast area to deliver the new 500 pupil, 3-19 special school.

The preferred location for the school has not yet been determined, as with all major capital projects, this will be confirmed through the business case process.
