To ask the Minister of Education, pursuant to AQW 45318/22-27, to detail the timescale for the (i) completion; and (ii) publication, of a handbook for special schools.

Answer:

My response of 19 May 2026 confirmed good progress has been made on the development of a handbook for both Special Schools and for specialist provision in mainstream schools.

Whilst I cannot confirm a definitive date for completion and publication of the new handbook for Special Schools at this time, I would anticipate the first draft will be completed by the end of December 2026.
