Question:
To ask the Minister of Health whether any assessment has been made of the cost to the health and social care service arising from undiagnosed coeliac disease and its resultant health complications.

Answer:
Official publications provide counts for broad disease registers, but coeliac disease is not included as a routinely reported condition in those standard breakdowns.
While diagnoses of coeliac disease are recorded within healthcare systems, undertaking any cost analysis would necessitate bespoke data extraction. This process would require considerable resources, as it involves manual extraction and subsequent interpretation of the data.
