Question:
To ask the Minister of Justice for an update on the Victims and Witnesses of Crime Bill.

Answer:

I am pleased to say that approval from the First Minister and deputy First Minister to introduce the Victims and Witnesses of Crime Bill to the Assembly was granted on 5 June.

As is the normal process, the Bill has been shared with the Speaker’s Office for consideration and I am hopeful it can be formally introduced on 22 June.

I believe the Bill will make a significant difference to the experiences of victims and witnesses in the criminal justice system and look forward to working with you all to progress important changes for victims and witnesses of crime.
