Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for an update on (i) the action contained within his TransformED Delivery plan to develop a professional learning programme for existing, experienced principals; and (ii) any cost incurred as a result of this action.

Answer:

My Department has undertaken a review of existing provision, best practice elsewhere and related educational research on professional learning support for experienced Principals. Drawn from this review, options have been identified for a broad leadership programme which will be implemented from September 2026, working with a range of external partners. The programme will include the existing leadership monthly newsletter with each edition focusing on a specific aspect of leadership.

To date, £25k has been invested in delivering this commitment.
