Question:
To ask the Minister of Education for an update on (i) the action contained within his TransformED Delivery plan to invest in upscaling and roll-out of CCEA’s Computer Adaptive Assessments for literacy and numeracy as a free alternative to commercial assessments to inform effective formative and diagnostic assessment in schools; and (ii) any cost incurred as a result of this action.

Answer:

The First Annual Progress Report and Updated Delivery Plan (May 2026) sets out the Department’s updated position on this action.

CCEA were allocated £418k to for the administration and delivery of CAA in the 2025/26 financial year. The Department is allocating a total budget of £1.007m to CCEA for the continued development and upscaling of CCEA Adaptive Assessments in this 2026/27 financial year.
