Question:
To ask the Minister of Health to detail the number of people awaiting a first appointment for a neurology appointment in respect to dementia, in (i) 2022-23; (ii) 2024-25; (iii) 2025-26; and (iv) this year to date, broken down by Health and Social Care Trust.

Answer:
While neurologists are key specialists in diagnosing dementia, depending on the patient's age and specific symptoms, diagnoses can also be assessed by other specialists operating in other services.
In that context, all HSC Trusts have confirmed that current information systems would not identify if a first appointment was related to dementia.
