Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any assessment that has been undertaken to determine the prevalence of defective concrete blocks, containing excessive levels of mica or pyrite, in residential properties in Northern Ireland.

Answer:
There has been no evidence provided to the Department to suggest that there is a systemic issue within Northern Ireland pertaining to properties constructed using these defective materials.
My Department is aware of eight properties identified by the owner as containing defective concrete blocks - six social homes and two private dwellings, all within the Foyle constituency.
