Question:
To ask the Minister of Health for an update on the roll-out of targeted lung screening for people aged between 55 and 74 with a history of smoking, as recommended by the UK National Screening Committee in 2022.

Answer:

I have recently agreed that funding is provided to establish a team to commence planning work this year. This team will take forward work at a regional level to plan for a targeted lung screening programme (including additional diagnostic, pathways for incidental findings and treatment services). It will also assess potential resource implications for the delivery of this programme within the current and future budgetary constraints.
