To ask the Minister of Education to detail the number of (i) places available through special school summer schemes, in each of the last five years; and (ii) special schools that reduced the number of places offered in 2026 compared with 2025.
Answer:
The Education Authority (EA) has provided the following information; i) Year | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | Number of Pupils | 1597 | 1082 | 1147 | 1453 | 1849 |
ii) EA does not have information in relation to 2026, as all the schemes have not yet started or finished. This information can be provided at the end of the summer following school evaluation returns.
