Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail (i) any process by which schools dispose of second-hand modular accommodation units; and (ii) whether such units are offered to other schools before being disposed of.

Answer:
When a temporary modular accommodation unit becomes surplus it undergoes a condition assessment to determine if it is suitable for relocation to another school site with an identified need.
If the Education Authority cannot find an alternative location for a unit (which is still useable), it typically sends it to auction with the aim of achieving best value for the public purse.
If a unit is deemed to be beyond its useful life, it is demolished.
