Question:
To ask the Minister of Justice for an update on her Department’s transformation projects.

Answer:

The bids, made by my Department, present innovative and transformative solutions to some of the challenges facing the justice system.

I was delighted that, in the first phase of applications to the funding available, the Transformation Board recognised the quality of our bids and provided my Department with £22.64m to deliver on our transformation aims. This funding is actively being used on efforts to speed up and transform the criminal justice system and to modernise electronic monitoring.

I remain clear that these investments, which should help to transform both the system and delivery, would not happen at the same pace had the Transformation funding not been provided by the Executive.
