To ask the Minister of Education for an update on special school summer scheme provision for Summer 2026.

Answer:

The Education Authority (EA) provided the following information on 2 July 2026;

The EA can confirm that summer scheme provision for Summer 2026 remains consistent with previous years, with no change to the overall offer available from special schools.

All special schools that delivered a summer scheme in 2025 are operating a summer scheme in 2026. The EA has worked closely with schools to support planning and implementation arrangements, ensuring continuity of provision for children and young people with special educational needs.

The EA will continue to work with schools throughout the summer to support the successful delivery of schemes and to ensure that children and young people can benefit from the valuable educational and social opportunities these programmes provide.
