Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any work that is being undertaken with the tourism and hospitality sectors, to prepare for and manage occasions of extreme heat.

Answer:
Assessments of heat, light and ventilation are undertaken as part of Tourism NI's certification and grading of visitor accommodation. While there are currently no specific criteria relating exclusively to extreme heat, establishments are encouraged to adopt good operational practices that enhance visitor comfort, staff wellbeing and business resilience during periods of unusually warm weather.
More generally, the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland provides guidance (available on their website) on measures that can be taken to mitigate the impact of extreme heat in the workplace.
