To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to detail any guidance for animal owners on protecting companion animals during periods of extreme heat.

Answer:

My Department regularly issues guidance on NI Direct and its own social media platforms, encouraging companion animal owners to be mindful of their needs, especially during periods of prolonged hot weather. This includes advising owners not to leave pets unsupervised in cars and to walk dogs at cooler times of day.
