Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy whether she is working with the Minister for Communities to enable investment into EnergyCloud type products, for vulnerable residents who are most impacted by fuel poverty.

Answer:
The Department for the Economy has responsibility for energy policy and is progressing delivery of the Executive's Energy Strategy, which aims to deliver secure, affordable and clean energy, and recognises Smart Local Energy Systems as an important enabler of that transition.
While innovative proposals such as EnergyCloud merit consideration, any model must demonstrate value for money, technical feasibility and clear consumer benefits. Any approach must be accessible and fair, recognising that the costs of generating, transmitting and distributing electricity are ultimately borne by consumers. Any intervention must therefore support affordability, deliver wider value and align with our strategic objectives.
My officials work closely with colleagues in the Department for Communities, which has lead responsibility for fuel poverty policy, including the Warm, Healthy Homes Strategy. Through this collaboration, we continue to explore how smart energy solutions can support vulnerable households and improve energy affordability.
