Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities (i) to detail any engagement he has had with the UK Government in relation to the June 2026 Home Buying and Selling Reform Roadmap; (ii) whether any consideration will be given to introducing any similar changes in Northern Ireland.

Answer:

As none of the proposed reforms fall under the policy or legislative remit of my Department, I am not in a position to consider the introduction of any similar changes here.

My Department’s engagement in relation to the roadmap has been to act as an initial contact point with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) as it has developed this work. This has involved sharing with MHCLG the appropriate contact details of other Executive Departments with potentially relevant policy remits, to facilitate consideration of the territorial applicability of relevant reform proposals.
