Question: To ask the Minister of Health to detail the number of adults with a learning disability that are living in residential care, broken down by (i) age; and (ii) Health and Social Care Trust.
Answer:
Health and Social Care Trusts (HSCTs) were asked to provide detail on the number of adults with a learning disability who are living in residential care, broken down by age and Trust. The information provided by the HSCTs is set out below. To note, the data reported is based on residential placements by the placing Trust i.e. all residential placements placed by each Trust both inside and outside the Trust area. Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) Age Range | Under 65 | 65 and Over | Total | Number | 62 | 66 | 128 |
Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) Age Range | Under 65 | 65 and Over | Total | Number | 56 | 24 | 80 |
Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT) Age Range | Under 65 | 65 and Over | Total | Number | 123 | 32 | 155 |
Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT) Age Range | 18 – 30 | 31 – 40 | 41 – 50 | 51 – 60 | 61 – 70 | 71 – 80 | 81 – 90 | 90 – 100 | Total | Number | 27 | 19 | 19 | 21 | 22 | 16 | <5 | <5 | 130 |
South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust (SEHSCT) Age Range | 18-19 | 20-29 | 30-39 | 40-49 | 50-59 | 60-69 | 70-79 | 80-89 | Total | Number | <5 | 18 | 17 | 29 | 31 | 34 | 12 | 5 | 147 |
To note, less than five (<5), is recorded when the Trust is unable to provide an exact figure, as the small numbers could make residents personally identifiable. Disclosure of this information would contravene the principles of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
