Question:
To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs what action his Department is taking in relation to (i) the import and sale of non-native seed species; and (ii) the All-Island Pollinator Plan.

Answer:

(i) Matters relating to the import and sale of non-native seed species are now subject to the direction and control of the Secretary of State as provided for in regulation 3 of the Windsor Framework (Implementation) Regulations 2024.

(ii) My Department is directly responsible for delivery of three actions listed in the All Ireland Pollinator Plan (AIPP) and also provides funding for organisations such as Buglife and Butterfly Conservation, which undertake actions to support the AIPP. My officials support and co-ordinate guidance, publications and events to promote AIPP actions.
