To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs whether his Department is designated as the competent authority under the Official Controls Regulation EU 2017/625.

Answer:

DAERA and the Food Standards Agency are designated as the central competent authorities under the Official Controls Regulation (EU) 2017/625.

Following the coming into force on 12 April 2024 of the Windsor Framework (Implementation) Regulations 2024, implementation of the Official Controls Regulation (EU) 2017/625 is now subject to the direction and control of the Secretary of State.
