Motion TitleHealth Budget

Motion TextThat this Assembly rejects the maladministration of the preceding Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety with regard to his departmental budget which has led to recent announcements from Health & Social Care Trusts regarding reductions in frontline services; and calls on the Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety to ensure adequate Equality Impact Assessments are established as a matter of priority before any final decisions are made.

13/11/2014	Proposed: Leave out all after ‘Assembly’ and insert: ‘pays tribute to the dedication of hardworking health and social care staff across Northern Ireland; recognises the immense difficulties health services face nationally and internationally in meeting ever-growing demand in constrained financial circumstances; notes the challenges for local Health and Social Care Trusts to break even in 2014-15 in a context of escalating demand for services and added pressures on the Executive’s overall resources; expresses regret that due to the advanced stage reached in the financial year the Trusts are having to take measures, some of which are counter-strategic; supports equality screening of Trust decisions; and further recognises the significant challenges the Northern Ireland Executive and health service will face in the years ahead; and calls on the Minister of Health, Social Services and Public Safety to outline how frontline staff can have a greater role in leading and delivering the transformational change required in order to preserve future health and social care that is consistent with the founding principles of the NHS.’
