Employment Rights Bill — Legislative Consent Motion: Committee Report
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Members, we move now to the agreement of the Committee report on the Employment Rights Bill legislative consent motion (LCM). Members have been provided with a copy of the draft report at page 93 of your packs, and this is the formal consideration before the report is ordered to be printed. I remind members that we are focusing on the text of the report only, as the team will address any formatting issues once the text is agreed. I will ask for comments and then agreement on each section of the report. I will start with the section entitled "Powers and Membership" at page 95 of your pack. Are members content with that section?
Members indicated assent.
Mr Allen: I am content, Chair. I just restate my declaration of interest as a trade union member.
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Thank you. I appreciate that, Andy. I refer members to the section entitled "Background", at pages 96 to 99. Are members content?
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): I refer members to the evidence section at pages 100 to105. Are members content?
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): I refer members to the section on Committee's consideration of the Bill at pages 106 to 111. Are members content?
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Are members content that this concludes the Committee's consideration of the draft report on the LCM?
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Therefore, the Question is that the Committee for Communities orders the report on the legislative consent memorandum on the Employment Rights Bill to be printed.
Question accordingly agreed to.
The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): On behalf of the members, I thank the Committee staff for what, in the circumstances, is a very robust report. A lot of work has gone into producing it at very short notice, so I thank the team for that.
