Inquiry (Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses) and Redress Scheme Bill: Committee Report

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): We will now have the formal agreement of the Committee report. Are members content that the title page, the table of contents and the Committee powers and membership and list of abbreviations pages stand part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the executive summary stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the introduction section stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the recommendations section stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the preparation work section stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the call for evidence section stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the oral evidence section stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the summary of round-table engagement events stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the section on other issues considered by the Committee stands part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the clause-by-clause deliberations and decisions considered by the Committee stand part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content that the appendices stand part of the report?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Subject to the resolution of typographical issues, the final report has been agreed by the Committee. Are members content that the report be published on the Committee's web page and issued to all MLAs on Thursday 29 January 2026?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Are members content to approve the draft minutes of this meeting for inclusion in appendix 3, in order to enable the report to be finalised?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): The draft minutes will be replaced by a final version of the minutes, once agreed by the Committee at next week's meeting, so that we can indicate that we went through the report section by section.

Are members content that, on Thursday 29 January 2026, an electronic copy of the Bill report is issued to all organisations and individuals who provided evidence to the Committee on the Bill?

Members indicated assent.

The Chairperson (Ms Bradshaw): Do members have any views or comments on the draft press release? No. There are no amendments, then? Good job, thank you.

The Committee Stage will formally end on Friday 30 January 2026. The date for the Consideration Stage will be confirmed by the Department in the coming weeks. I thank everybody who has contributed to the Bill, particularly victims and survivors, who have waited decades for recognition, truth and redress. Thank you, everybody, and thank you to the Committee team.
