Motion TitlePaid Menstrual Leave

Motion TextThat this Assembly acknowledges the recent progress made by the Spanish government in introducing paid medical leave for women who suffer from severe period pain; further acknowledges that paid menstrual leave has been in place for a number of years in other countries around the world, such as Japan and South Korea; recognises the impact that period pain can have on women’s participation in the workforce; notes recent progress made in the last mandate with the introduction of free period products for all; and calls on the Minister for the Economy to introduce paid menstrual leave in Northern Ireland.
