Motion TitleHealth Transformation Plan

Motion TextThat this Assembly recognises that the health and social care system has suffered from decades of neglect and underfunding and is currently experiencing extreme pressures, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic; further recognises the impact that long waiting lists are having on the physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing of patients across Northern Ireland, many of whom are waiting in chronic pain; acknowledges the need for long-term transformation to preserve a free and accessible health service; notes the need for accountability and transparency regarding waiting lists; and calls on the Minister of Health to design and implement an urgent and transparent plan for the transformation of the health service that includes a commitment to an annual report setting out the Department’s response to the waiting times backlog.
