Motion TitleIndemnity Scheme for GPs

Motion TextThat this Assembly recognises the ongoing challenges to the sustainability of general practices locally; notes that Northern Ireland remains the only region in the UK in which GPs are required to pay high personal costs for indemnity; expresses concern that GPs are expected to take on the responsibility of such costs; further recognises that the status quo of indemnity is resulting in an inability to retain GPs or attract new GPs; and calls on the Minister of Health to institute immediately a government-backed scheme of indemnity with an interim reimbursement scheme for all NHS practising GPs.
