Relationships and Sexuality Education - Amendment 2
Leave out all after ‘value’ and insert: ‘of inclusive, high-quality, evidence-based and age-appropriate Relationships and Sexuality Education as a means of empowering and preparing our children and young people for life; acknowledges that teachers and school staff must have the support, training and resources they require to feel confident in delivering Relationships and Sexuality Education in schools; stresses that there should be no impediment to teachers and pupils discussing, and considering, moral, ethical and spiritual issues within Relationships and Sexual Education; further recognises that Relationships and Sexuality Education has a vital role to play in affirming human dignity, promoting healthy relationships and tackling violence against women and girls; and calls on the Minister of Education to bring forward a plan which enshrines the right of schools to develop, and deliver, teaching in keeping with their ethos, which respects the role of parents and which guarantees a meaningful role for children and young people in the development of inclusive, high-quality, evidence-based, and age-appropriate Relationships and Sexuality Education.’
