Motion TitleFailure to Produce a River Basin Management Plan - Amendment 2

Motion Amendment TextLeave out all after ‘highlighted’ and insert: ‘the importance of cross-departmental and cross-agency efforts to address water quality issues, the deterioration of river and lake ecosystems, and pollution; recognises that actions to achieve sustainable agriculture and farming practices and investment in wastewater infrastructure are critical to improving water quality; further recognises that improving water quality requires effective cross-border collaboration; acknowledges that effective River Basin Management Plans are required to deliver meaningful improvements in water quality at rivers, lakes and loughs throughout Northern Ireland, including Lough Neagh; calls on the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to urgently finalise, publish and implement an updated River Basin Management Plan ensuring all relevant stakeholders are engaged in the process; and further calls on the NI Executive to support publication and delivery of River Basin Management Plans alongside adequate funding.’
