Motion

Privatisation of Healthcare

Privatisation of Healthcare
That this Assembly recognises the inherent unfairness of the privatisation of health and social care which prevents working class people being able to access the same services as others; notes that significant amounts of public money are being spent on outsourcing health and social care services, including on the use of private healthcare facilities and on recruitment agencies; regrets that this represents money that could otherwise be invested in maintaining and improving in-house health and social care services; opposes the privatisation of these services in the interests of saving money; affirms that investment in health and social care should always focus on and prioritise patients and workers; calls on the Minister of Health to analyse the impacts of the privatisation of health and social care on patients; and further calls on the Minister to establish a clear pathway to end privatisation of our health service.
