‘effective support following a criminal offence being perpetrated against them and during any judicial proceedings; and welcomes the Minister for Justice’s decision to establish a Reference Group which will consider the most appropriate model for creation of a Victims of Crime Commissioner who would act as a focal point, champion and advocate and bring forward best practice in dealing with, and supporting, victims of crime.’

Insert after ‘proceedings;’:
‘notes with concern the findings of the July 2020 report by Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland which identified that victims and witnesses remained fundamentally unaware of their rights to information, support and protection and that services to assist them were still not being consistently delivered to a quality standard; highlights that this is despite the 2012 Assembly Committee for Justice report on its Inquiry into the Criminal Justice Services available to Victims and Witnesses of Crime in Northern Ireland, which made comprehensive recommendations;’
