Fair Employment (School Teachers) Bill: Committee Report
The Chairperson (Ms McLaughlin): I will recap what the Committee agreed yesterday. The Committee agreed that it had considered enough written and oral evidence on the Bill. We agreed to propose an amendment to clause 3 that changes the preceding provisions so that they will come into force at the end of a period of 24 months rather than 12 months. The Committee will agree the final report at today's meeting. There is one piece of tidying up to conclude from yesterday's meeting. Are members content with the schedule to the Bill?
Members indicated assent.
The Chairperson (Ms McLaughlin): Following yesterday's meeting, the following have been added to the report: the Department of Education's oral evidence; the Bill sponsor's further oral evidence; and the Research and Information Service's oral evidence. If members are happy with those additions to the report, we will go through and approve the report bit by bit.
The Chairperson (Ms McLaughlin): Does the Committee agree that it is content with the title page, the table of contents, Committee powers and membership and list of abbreviations as drafted; that it is content with the executive summary of the report as drafted; that it is content with the introduction section of the report as drafted; that it is content with the Committee approach section of the report as drafted; that it is content with the Committee consideration of the Bill section of the report as drafted; that it is content with the clause-by-clause scrutiny section of the report as drafted; that it is content with the recommendations section as drafted; that it is content with the list of appendices to the report as drafted; that it is content with the appendices section of the report as drafted; that it is content for the Fair Employment (School Teachers) Bill report to be published and issued to all MLAs; that it is content for the Chairperson to approve the minutes of proceedings of this meeting for inclusion in the report; that it is content for the report on the Fair Employment (School Teachers) Bill to be published as its second report of the mandate; and that it is content that the electronic copy of the Bill report be sent to all organisations and individuals who provided evidence to the Committee on the Bill?
The Chairperson (Ms McLaughlin): That concludes the Committee Stage of the Bill. Are members content that the Clerk will notify the Business Office and that the Chair will lay the Committee's amendments to the Bill as shown in the minutes and the final report?
