Pensions (Extension of Automatic Enrolment) Bill: Formal Clause-by-clause Consideration

The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Members, the Committee will now commence the formal clause-by-clause consideration of the Pensions (Extension of Automatic Enrolment) Bill. I will read out the title of each clause before I put the Question.

If members have any final comments to make, please alert me to them before I put the Question on whether the Committee is content with each clause as drafted or amended.

Clause 1 (Automatic enrolment: persons and earnings affected)

The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Is the Committee content with clause 1, subject to the Committee's proposed amendment?

Mr Kingston: Can you clarify whether that information is in the main pack or in the tabled pack?

The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): It is in the main pack, Brian.

Mr Kingston: You say clause 1. Is that on page 146?

The Committee Clerk: No. It is on page 211, under agenda item 8.

The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): OK. I will repeat the Question. Is the Committee content with clause 1, subject to the Committee's proposed amendment?

Some Members: Yes.

Mr Kingston: I am just clarifying whether it is the wording in the tabled pack.

The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): Yes. The amendment is in the tabled pack at page 34.

Mr Kingston: I am going to abstain on that matter.

Mr Bradley: I will abstain too.

Question, That the Committee is content with clause 1, subject to the proposed amendment, put and agreed to.

Question, That the Committee is content with clause 2, put and agreed to.

The Chairperson (Mr Gildernew): That concludes the Committee's formal clause-by-clause consideration of the Pensions (Extension of Automatic Enrolment) Bill.
