‘the considerable financial drain on Northern Ireland’s public finances of funding North-South bodies which are of little tangible benefit to the people of Northern Ireland, such as the Loughs Agency which duplicates functions already performed by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and its agencies, Safefood which does not employ a single person in Northern Ireland while Intertrade UK exists without any independent staff, offices or even a budget; and calls on the UK Government and the Executive to urgently redress this imbalance by commissioning a value for money audit, specifically of the Loughs Agency and Safefood and committing to a proper funding package for Intertrade UK.'

‘calls on all Ministers to agree the new funding model to allow additional funding to help deliver and sustain services; and further calls on the Minister of Finance to commit to ring-fencing funding for the six North South Bodies in the event that other Executive ministers continue to veto proposals for a new funding model.’ |
