'rejects the Prime Minister’s plans to reduce legal migration to the UK; recognises that the term illegal immigration is dehumanising and dismissive of the difficult and often traumatic journeys that migrants, including refugees and people seeking asylum, experience as a result of being forced into unsafe routes to safety; appreciates the valuable contribution of migrants to communities here, including those who work in our public services; further recognises that the unsustainable pressures placed on basic services, including access to GPs, dentists and the provision of school places, are a result of decades of underfunding of public services, driven by neoliberalism and austerity; opposes the scapegoating of migrants for problems created and exacerbated by the state, including the housing crisis; notes an analysis carried out by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research which found that granting asylum seekers the right to work would save the UK Government £4.4 billion; calls on the First Minister and deputy First Minister to write to the UK Prime Minister, placing on record their opposition to the UK Government’s White Paper on immigration and wider hostile environment policy.'
